Indigo Blue Handwoven Hemp Wrap Skirt

This wrap skirt is made from handwoven natural hemp, dyed entirely with natural indigo — the ancient plant-based dye that has coloured cloth for thousands of years.

The result is a warm, deep blue with the characteristic gentle unevenness of a natural dye that no synthetic process can replicate. Up close the handwoven slub texture of the hemp catches the light unevenly, shifting the depth of the blue as the fabric moves.

The front wrap panel carries a hand block printed floral — large open flowers with scrolling stems and leaves, printed in natural resist on the indigo base so that the undyed hemp shows through each petal and leaf in soft cream and ecru. Applied by hand, one block press at a time, the placement is intentional without being rigid. It has the quiet irregularity of something made by a person rather than a machine.

The back and under-panel are left entirely plain — natural indigo hemp in its purest form, the handwoven texture visible in every inch of the cloth. A deliberate decision that lets the fabric itself be enough on one side, and the print do its work on the other.

The wrap front fastens with a discreet row of flat metal hook and bar closures. Invisible from the outside when worn, the multiple fastening points keep the wrap firmly in place through movement without adding bulk or interrupting the clean lines of the front panel.

A front split opens as you walk, adding ease of movement and a quiet structural drama to the clean ankle-grazing silhouette. Side pockets sit neatly within the seams, exactly where they should be.
